I met Pat while waiting in line for a sandwich at Whole Foods. I complimented her on how elegant and nice she looked. She smiled and said thank you.
I then blurted out, “ I know I must look as bad as I feel. I’m really suffering and on my way to the doctor to find out what’s wrong with me.” We spoke for awhile and then she asked, “Do you believe in fate?” She handed me her Simply a Woman of Faith card and said “I will pray for you.” I went home and thought of her quite often. I truly believed that God put Pat in my life for a reason.
A week later, I called and thanked her for her prayers. We chatted for quite awhile and I told some of the difficulties I was having in my personal life. She listened and said she would pray for me.
Things got worse physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. While on the way to the neurologist, a few weeks later, I had a car accident and was in severe pain. I battled depression and hadn’t gotten out of bed in weeks. I felt lost and was grieving the loss of my mother who had passed away recently. I felt angry at God and contemplated suicide. I felt like life was more than I could handle and was losing it.
I called Pat again. She immediately asked me for my address and told me she wanted me to have her book-that it would help me. I was surprised that she would sent it for free. I knew in my heart that God had sent me an angel.
I was taken aback when her book arrived and I saw the beautiful angel on the cover. I felt an instant connection with Pat when I read her book. I related to so many of her stories and didn’t feel alone anymore. I truly believe her book and her prayers saved my life. Things are turning around in my life and I am so grateful. I now take the time for myself to pray and meditate. Pat Hastings is my angel and God has answered my prayers.

How does your faith grow? Before we can discuss how it grows, we need to have a working definition of what faith is. Simply put, faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. When we plant seeds in the ground, we cannot see the flower or vegetable that will spring forth, but we believe, wait and trust that something will come from the darkness .
What are the seeds that have been planted in your life? What are you hoping for, but you cannot see- a new job, relationship, abundance, health? It is not easy being in the darkness and having to wait for something to grow or change.
Here is where my faith is tested and where it grows. Will I trust the promises of God and wait patiently for whatever I am hoping for to grow or will I get discouraged and give up on my dream because it is not happening fast enough?
During this time of gestation, darkness and waiting, it is important to have people in your life who believe in you and support you. Learning to be vulnerable and asking for help is equally important. It is a time to love and nurture your inner spirit, not beat up on yourself that you are not doing enough or doing something wrong. Sometimes, we just need to rest and not push so hard. As you learn to trust and surrender to divine timing, just like the flowers, you will blossom.
“I allow blessings to flow to me and I freely draw from the limitless ocean of good. As I deepen my trust, I am in the flow of divine abundance. I need not worry about the temporary appearance of lack in my life because I know there is abundant supply.” Daily Word
