THERE IS ONLY ONE POWER & THAT POWER IS GOD
A few months prior to my “Miracle Manifestation” trip to Maui, Hawaii in November, I contacted several of the churches to see if there was an interest in me giving a workshop/retreat while vacationing there. My friend Ellen, whom I was staying with in Hawaii also contacted some organizations, but to no avail. I was disappointed, but trusted it was a closed door and God had other plans. My dream was put on hold.
Two days before I left for Hawaii, I received an email from my friend Deb Scott. She was very excited and said this woman CJ (from Maui, Hawaii) had an inspirational blog talk radio show called “From Maui with Aloha” and she wanted me to be a guest on her show while I was in Hawaii. Of course I said yes! It wasn’t a workshop or retreat, but a radio show would do just fine!
After the radio show, we both felt like we wanted to get to know one another better. We met for tea a week later and talked for 3 hours non-stop. We became fast friends and both knew it was no accident that we met. In our conversation, CJ told me she had just started writing a book about her life. I offered to be her weekly “Accountability Coach” which she immediately said yes to. We have been in contact every week since then. Interesting, but she has also become my weekly “Accountability Coach” for my new book.
When we talked last week, CJ mentioned that she is being led to lead retreats/workshops in Maui. Of course, my ears perked up and my heart skipped a beat. “I want to be a part of this” I blurted out. She was thrilled because of my background and experience. She had no idea that this was my dream. I don’t know what or how it will happen because it’s in the infancy stage, but I have a feeling that my dream of doing a retreat in Hawaii will come true. Cheryl also connected me with a woman who wants to lead workshops on cruises. We are speaking this week. It just gets better and better when we know we are all CONNECTED to the ONE POWER that is GOD.
I look forward to having CJ on my radio show “Finding the God of your understanding” on April 18th.
HELP IS ON THE WAY WHEN YOU PRAY
God wants to help you and give you what you need, but you must ask. If you believe, God will lead you to the right person or situation at the right and perfect time that will help you. Sometimes, you will be the person or the answer that someone has been praying for. I have had several experiences of this recently.
For example, I was invited to be a guest on Deb Ruggiero’s Amazing Women Radio Show, which I really enjoyed. It was aired last June and to my surprise and delight, it was aired again the day after Christmas. The very next day, I received an email from a woman who had never heard the show before. She was sitting on the floor and turning the channels when she heard my voice on the radio. In her email, she wrote “I have been praying for a long time for someone who could help me with my life. Can I meet with you this week?”
A couple of days later, I received another email from a woman who had also listened to the show for the first time. She explained that she was driving home from work and had just prayed and asked God to send her someone she could talk to. She needed to get clarity about whether to divorce her husband of 37 years. We met the following week for coaching.
My next email was from a woman who had said a pray before she went to bed, asking God for a sign. She was very troubled and needed God’s help. When her alarm clock went off – she woke up to the sound to my voice on the radio. I am meeting with her this week for coaching.
Most recently, I had a workshop at All That Matters Yoga Center that was cancelled due to the snow. I decided to offer each of the women who signed up a complimentary ½ hour coaching session with me. One of the women contacted me to make an appointment after she received my email, a few hours after she prayed and asked God to send her someone who could help her.
Part of being Simply a Woman of Faith means recognizing that God wants to help YOU and give you what you need, but you must first be wiling to ask, and then trust that help is on the way- when you PRAY.
How may I serve YOU on your journey?
IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU: TIPS ON HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF
Loving yourself is a process and a life long journey. I choose to love myself daily. Unfortunately, it wasn’t always like that and I had to learn to love myself. The truth be known, I hated myself and felt inadequate most of the time.
As the captain of the cheerleading squad at East Meadow High School in New York, I loved cheering for the football and basketball teams. I also “cheered for” my friends who often came to me with their problems. They knew I would listen and wouldn’t judge them. But what about me? Did I cheer for myself?
I hate to admit it, but I didn’t know how to cheer for myself. I looked outside of myself for others to approve of me and tell me I was okay. My self-esteem was like a yo-yo. If you liked me, I felt good about myself and if you didn’t like me, I didn’t feel good about myself. Instead of loving myself, I judged and beat up on myself. I didn’t know how to love myself and I didn’t have a “self”. I became a people pleaser and was loved starved. I wasn’t in touch with my feelings (especially anger), what I wanted or who I was. But, I looked good on the outside-like I had it all together.
About twenty five years ago, I learned about Codependency and it changed my life. I gradually learned to like myself and then to love myself. Codependency can be called “other-addiction.” Codependents have a long history of focusing their thoughts and behaviors on other people, often at the expense of themselves. They “people please” and will do almost anything to get the approval of others. People pleasers are full of anger because their needs are rarely met because they are so busy taking care of everyone else. They look very competent on the outside but on the inside they feel quite needy, inadequate, helpless, or perhaps nothing at all. They may have experienced abuse or emotional neglect as a child. They are outwardly focused on others, and know very little about how to direct their own life from their own sense of self. Sound familiar?
We cannot change until we are aware of our behaviors and what needs to be changed. I needed to change. I learned to stop beating up on myself and looking outside for my answers and self esteem. I began to affirm myself, “I like and approve of the person I am becoming.” I said it constantly and after awhile, I started to believe it. This was the beginning of self-love. Nobody can love you like you can love yourself. When you love yourself, you learn to love others. Love is the answer. The bible says “love your neighbor as yourself.” We often forget about loving ourselves first.
My journey has been one of self-discovery, self-love, self-confidence and self-trust. I started to say NO and stopped “shoulding” on myself. I put a sticky on my phone that said, “I will not should on myself.” At first, my children and family weren’t happy when I set boundaries and said no. They thought I was being selfish. I told them it was self-care! Today, I say no easily when I want to and so do my children. And the best part is – I don’t feel guilty and neither do they!
Loving myself means I stop acting like a victim, blaming and judging others. I take responsibility for my feelings, actions and behaviors. It means I forgive myself for years of not loving myself, beating up on myself and having to be perfect. Today, if I make a mistake, I quickly forgive myself and see what I can learn from it. If others do something that I don’t like, I choose to forgive and see the perfection in it – that I attracted it into my life for my highest good and healing. I believe everything happens for a reason and that it’s for my highest goo
TIPS ON LOVING YOURSELF
1. STOP ALL CRITICISM– Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticize yourself. Accept and love yourself exactly as you are – knowing you are doing the best you can.
2. DON’T SCARE YOURSELF – Stop terrorizing yourself with your negative thoughts. Find a mental image that brings you pleasure and switch your scary thoughts to pleasurable thoughts. Remember the good things that have happened in the past.
3. SPEND TIME ALONE IN MEDITATION AND PRAYER- Plug into the Power within on a daily basis. Allow yourself to receive Divine Love and healing. Journal your feelings and focus on what you have, rather than what’s missing.
4. BE KIND TO YOUR MIND – Self hatred is only hating your own thoughts. Don’t hate yourself for having the thoughts. Change your thinking and focus on the positive things in your life. Start a gratitude journal.
5. PRAISE YOURSELF – Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds it up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well you are doing with every little thing. Stop looking for others to validate you. Be patient with yourself and treat yourself as you would your best friend. Look into your eyes often and tell yourself the truth of who you are as a child of God.
6. SUPPORT YOURSELF – Find ways to support yourself. Reach out to friends and allow them to help you. Asking for help and being vulnerable when you need it is sign of strength and courage. It gives others permission to ask for help when they need it.
7. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY – Learn about nutrition. What kind of fuel does your body need to have optimum energy and vitality? Exercise. Cherish and revere the temple you live in.
8. ACCEPT YOUR GIFTS – Step into your greatness and magnificence. Stop hiding and let your light shine. Find your passion and live it. Live your dreams.
February 16, 2011 IMAGINE the life YOU want to live & Create Your Own Intention Book
Do you want to be living your dream, but don’t know how? Join Pat in this powerful workshop where she will guide YOU to create your own intention book. It is guaranteed your life will change when you see it on the inside first.
Creating an intention book is actually a visual prayer. The images turn into manifestations because your thoughts are prayers. You see it every day and it reminds you to give thanks. There’s no magic – it’s a tool and a decision to be conscious. You get what you expect to get. What you think about, you bring about. Affirmations give strength to the expectancy of the pictured good. When I created my first intention book 4 years ago, my life changed and my book was birthed. I just returned from Hawaii from a 2 week vacation for FREE because I saw it on the inside first and believed it would happen. IMAGINE the life YOU want to live and live it! DIVINE VISITATION
Do your loved ones who have passed on send you signs and want to communicate with you? I had a “Divine Visitation” from my daughter-in-law Suzie who passed away from cancer 3 years ago this month.
The angel card I chose (or shall I say chose me) while in prayer on New Year’s Day was Divine Guidance. It read “Something significant and profoundly meaningful would awaken me to the reality of the Divine in my life and I would encounter the energy or spirit of a loved one.”
Suzie’s symbol was the butterfly. Since her death, she has graced me with her presence through seeing the butterfly, especially when I am about to speak to an audience. She is my Earth Angel.
The first time “she showed up” was the morning after she passed away. As I stood on the balcony with the sun shining brightly on my face, a butterfly encircled my head for a few minutes. Tears rolled down my cheeks because I knew in my heart that Suzie was gracing me with her Love and presence. There is a legend that the first butterfly you see after a loved one dies is their spirit coming to you to let you know they are safe.
Fast forward to my “Divine Visitation” from Suzie today. I had just finished my prayer and was feeling very excited and a little nervous about the new program “Integrating Spirituality into Your Business” that I was starting that day for VA Hospital employees. After Suzie died, I bought a butterfly hanging for my dining room window to remind me of her. As I looked out the window, I noticed that the sun was shining on one of the butterflies and it absolutely glowed – to the point that I couldn’t even see the butterfly anymore. I KNEW and felt Suzie’s presence and love.
A few hours later, I received an email in my inbox from someone requesting my newsletter. Her email address was SuzieQ. My son Brian was involved in Habitat for Humanity and a few months after Suzie died, they built a house in her name and it was called SuzieQ.
I am very grateful to God for all the signs He sends. I am grateful to Suzie for being my Earth Angel and showing up. My eyes and heart are open to receive. How about you? Are you open to receive messages and signs from your loved ones? They are waiting to communicate with you.
I AM A STAR OF MY OWN BEING & I LET MY LIGHT SHINE
Thanksgiving morning in Hawaii: I had just finished writing in my journal “I am stepping into my greatness” when I looked up and witnessed this breathtaking rainbow over the ocean that spanned from one end of the sky to the other. Rainbows are always a sign of God’s blessing in my life and it felt like God was stamping His approval on my life’s work.
I thanked God and watched the rainbow as it faded back into the sky. I continued praying and journaling. Within five minutes, I looked up again and there was another rainbow gracing the sky. WOW, I felt so blessed and grateful. I watched it again fade completely into the sky. I broke down into tears and my body felt like it was vibrating when two more rainbows graced the sky (the last one was a double rainbow.) Within twenty minutes, I had witnessed 4 rainbows. I felt totally embraced in God’s love and care. I didn’t connect it right away, but I have 4 children so it was very symbolic of the gifts I have in my life.
I would like to share the message I received from God that morning in prayer.
“You can be as great as you want to be. It’s up to you. Just say yes to the doors I am opening for you. I have prepared you to step into your greatness and let your light shine. Not for you, but for the world to see me. I am the light and I am in you. So when you shine, I shine. When you hide because of false pride or not feeling good enough, you hide me. I am asking you to let your light shine so others will see me and be drawn to me. I have chosen you to do my work. The world is hungering for me and I need you to be the light in the world. Feel my love Pat, breathe it in, cherish it, let it radiate out. You are my star that is shining brightly. All you need to do is shine and radiate love.”
While reading my spiritual book I opened to:
“I no longer stand in my way, for I am God in expression and God does not have obstacles or obstructions. My consciousness is on fire with will and purpose and I am fired up. I now go forth to joyfully accomplish my mission because the power of God is working mightily in me now! I am hooked up to the dynamo within and I am electrified with the Divine energy of will and purpose. I am quickened from head to toe, galvanized into action by the invincible currents flowing in and through me.”
The same Power that is God lives in me and lives in you. Will you let your light shine and will you say yes to your mission and passion? The world is waiting for you. It is time to be a star of your own being and let your light shine.
GODincidences
I was going through a difficult time in my life and recently asked my friend Lisa for a CD on How to Pray the Rosary. Something interesting happened that night. When I opened my eyes in bed, I noticed dark shadows on the wall and told my friend Joanne about it the next day at lunch. She gave me her rosary beads from Jerusalem and suggested I pray the rosary. She also told me she would get me a crucifix.
The next week I went to church and prayed the rosary. Something powerful happened and I knew God was touching my heart deeply. I felt so peaceful after I prayed. I asked God for a sign before I left the church. As I walked to my car, I spotted a royal blue pouch with rosaries beads in it in front of my car door. They were gorgeous rosary beads with a locket and a picture of 2 little boys. I knew someone had lost the beads and I wanted to find the owner. I left a note in the church with my telephone number. A few people called who had lost beads, but they weren’t the beads that I found.
I received a call on Christmas Eve and the woman described them perfectly to me. I returned them to her all wrapped up with a bow. She told me she had no idea how they got in front of my car. She was elated that the beads were found and sent me a package to thank me for returning the beads. Inside the package were some prayer cards and the CD I wanted on How to pray the rosary. There is no way she could have known that I asked my friend for the CD the week before.
On New Year’s day I received a call from a woman named Kelly asking me about the rosary beads. I told her that the beads were with their owner. She sounded so sick on the phone that I asked her,“Are you drinking tea and eating chicken soup”? She said, I’m drinking tea, but I don’t cook, I’m eating Kust Progresso canned soup.” I decided to make her a pot of chicken soup and delivered it to her home. She was so appreciative and gave me a gift. She said, “I know I am supposed to give you this.” I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the box. In it was a beautiful crucifix (that my friend Joanne said she was going to give to me).
Something deeply profound has happened in my life and I am so grateful to God for hearing my prayers and healing me. My eyes are opened and miracles are happening all around me. All I had to do was ask and be willing to receive. In Pat’s book, Simply a Woman of Faith, she calls them GODincidences. And so do I.
