The Possibilities Are Endless With Spirit As Your Companion
A couple of months ago I read that the Dalai Lama was coming to Gillette Stadium in MA to do public teachings. At the end of the press release there was a number for the press contact. Without hesitating, I called, spoke with a very nice man and told him I wished to write an article about my recent travels to India to study with the Dalai Lama and also interview people at the New England event to include as well.
He was kind, but told me there were a limited number of press passes and that I would be in competition with the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine and other big media publications. He took my name and told me to send him a letter anyway. When I told him I wanted to bring a photographer along too, he laughed, but told me to send his info along as well.
I prayed and let it go. I thought if it was meant to be, it would be. I didn’t hearanything and assumed that I hadn’t been chosen. A few days before the event, I received an email congratulating me for being awarded a press pass inviting me to a special event to unveil a sacred tapestry from India and view the throne that the Dalai Lama will be speaking from.
I found my way into Boston where I was greeted by the organizers of the event. It seems they had passed my humble letter around and were quite taken by my intention to ask the Dalai Lama what an American could do to help the cause of Peace in the world as well as what I, as an individual, could do to help the cause of the Tibetan people.
It didn’t matter to them that I was representing myself instead of a big media company. They valued my honesty and integrity.
I learned many years ago that it’s easy to walk fearlessly in the world with Spirit as your companion. The possibilities are endless and every day becomes an adventure. The doors open when we walk in faith and trust God.
